GLPS Families,

Happy homecoming Friday! It has been a great week of Comet celebrations and dress up days, and we will cap it off with the parade, football game, the band, and all of the other homecoming events this evening. We hope to see you there!

Now that the year is truly off and running, I want to take some time today to share our strategic plan goals for this year.  As a reminder, our mission, vision, beliefs, and focus areas are below:

Under each focus area, we have established a set of SMART (Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Relevant, and Timebound) goals that will guide our work over the course of the school year. As we look at our achievement data, progress, and needs, we may update goals throughout the year; in fact, some of our buildings are working on updating goals now. However, all SMART goals go to the board for approval, so as we make updates, I will communicate those with you after they have been approved. To those ends, our current board approved SMART goals for the year can be found here. They are organized by focus area and year, and can be found at the bottom of the page. These goals represent how we track our improvement and success, and keep us focused on the important work of helping our students learn and grow.

In my Friday message next week, I will be seeking some feedback from you on topics you would like me to discuss and share in these weekly messages, so please keep an eye out for that. In the meantime, enjoy the homecoming festivities; we have a lot to celebrate here across our district and community. Thank you, as always, for your support and for giving us the opportunity to work with your students every day. GLPS is a great place to learn and grow, and we are proud to serve our families here.

As always, I am #proudtobeacomet!
